Ooh, I missed the reference to "The Thing". Now there was a film with a downer ending that was, none the less, satisfying. That's how you do it, Darabont! Dickhead.

I agree... The ending of this film was horrible... Just very, completely disturbing...

It had been years since i read The Mist, so I couldn't recall exactly how it ended, but I didn't think it ended like *that*... Stephen King usually ends them on a somewhat upbeat or at least hopeful note... whether the true outcome is such, he's at least vague and ambiguous about it, allowing you to come to your own conclusion...

But Darabont's sucky end was just flat out wrong. I can in no way identify with the main character's thinking - at all. Shoot my own son? Without any immediate threat at hand? No F**king Way. I mean, the people have went through some horrible stuff, but look at how far they made it, how far they got... I mean, getting out of the store alive and managing to escape at all was major! Bu then to suddenly go "Oh well, nevermind - BLAMMO!" is just ridiculous...

bad darabont, bad!

Although, the nice touch at the beginning of the film where the main character is working on his paintings and we see some other King characters... very cool ;-) and carpenter's The Thing reference was nice too ;-)
